The Heel, Netherlands Football Tournament

Every year, a football tournament hosted by Dutch and Flemish nationalists and their associates is held in the Netherlands and the Flanders region of Belgium. With the host territory changing every year, this year – the 25th anniversary of the tournament – was held in the Dutch region of North Brabant. After over a year of restrictions, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, people were certainly looking forward to participating in the tournament again. This year, eight teams were present, with over 100 people registering their attendance at the event.

The event was a family affair, so there was something for everybody of all ages. For the children, there was even a bouncy castle for their own entertainment, while the adults took part in the football and socialised with friends and strangers alike. Food, drinks and other activities were also available in abundance. As for the football itself, despite a change in the weather – going from sunny to rainy – the matches were held without any problems. In the end, the team representing the Flemish student nationalist Nationalistische Studentenvereniging (NSV) won the tournament and lifted their trophy with pride.

The final rankings of the eight teams present at this year’s tournament are as follows:

1. NSV!

2. Voorpost Antwerpen-Gent

3. Voorpost Haagland-Delft

4. Schild en Vrienden

5. De Fraters

6. Geuzenbond

7. Europa Terra Nostra

8. Voorpost Rijnmond-Utrecht

Hopefully Europa Terra Nostra will rise up in the rankings at next year’s tournament, which will be the 26th event and will take place in Flanders.
